On the visit
Frost on the rear panel is read for pattern before it is cleared: an even sheet points at the defrost circuit, frost at the door edge at the seal. The defrost heater, the terminator and the evaporator sensor are each measured, and on a 600 Series the stored defrost codes are read before anything is replaced. Good work, a little awkward to schedule. Frost on the rear wall came down to a gasket split at the lower corner. New gasket, door reset to pull square, evaporator cleared by hand.
Freezer frosted over every ten days for a year. He found an open defrost heater in twenty minutes, fitted one from the van, and showed me the resistance reading on both parts.
Everything inside had frozen into one mass while the display insisted the temperature was normal. He proved the sensor read four degrees off, replaced it, and cycled defrost twice in front of me.
